Prop Ideas

The title of our film is called ‘Keys’, so it is self explanatory of what the main prop will be like. Almost like a character of its own, it’s necessary that the keys hold significance.

The story line consists of a school caretaker who kidnaps pupils and takes down to his lair within the premises, where he tortures them. The only way to escape is through a though door, which can only be opened with a key- caretakers prized possession. Never out of his reach or sight. The key becomes the symbol of the fate of the pupils. If they get their hands on the key then simply they will be free. But of course this proves to be a difficult task.

The idea of the use of keys came up as we were drawing up our storyboard, and needed to decide on the idea of a name of our movie. ‘Keys’ was brought to the table and we alter our ideas to evolve around the keys. During filming we were very aware of getting good shots with the keys and for our poster as well.

Overall I think then use of making the keys our predominate prop is clever as it gives the viewers something to focus on.
