Synopsis

General story idea: a crazed cannibal captures a group of female tourists and holds them hostage in a building unbeknown to anyone. With no knowledge of where they are, what will happen to them, and how they can escape, the audience watch a gruesome horror of the fight between the ladies and the challenge to escape the cannibal man.
Teaser trailer starts with an extreme long shot of the cannibal walking through the corridor from behind. Ideally this will be a silhouette. Then there is a cut to a medium close up of his waist and hands to draw attention to the keys he is holding. The sound here will be very simple merry whistling coming from the cannibal. He stops by the door – extreme long shot, followed by an extreme close up of him unlocking the door. As he enters the room the camera follows him to a drawer and as he slams the draw open the camera view switches to a bird’s eye view, so the audience sees it from the eyes of the cannibal. There is a wide selection of tools from which he picks a jagged knife – the camera zooms in on this, then pans as he turns around and walks to a table, when he looks down, there is a helpless girls tired up, looking scruffy and desperate to escape, the camera gets a medium close up view of her (still form the cannibals p.o.v) and it cuts to a shot of him giving a devilish grin.



Intended audience

Horror films have a very huge fan base and can be very widely generalised. Our story will specialise in cannibalistic horror. So as a group we have decided that the type of audience who will enjoy our trailer/movie the most may be ‘ Teen Emo’s’ a type of people who are also known as ‘punks with emotion’. They are typically associated with grunge, rock, hardcore punk, indie rock music etc. The slightly gothic twist on the story may appeal to them more than, for example a middle aged housewife, for numerous reasons.

- The type of music they listen to and the things it may support.

- Their dress sense

- Their hobbies and daily activities etc.

- Their environment and surroundings

It is also thought that emo’s share a much bigger interest in body piercings and tattoos and all sorts of ways to express their emotions with their bodies, so the extensive use of human bodies and cannibalism in the film may also appeal to them.
We have also agreed on targeting it towards the teenage generation because we feel a younger audience may enjoy this and find some aspects of it hilarious and not take it too seriously. Whereas, an older audience may not find it as humorous, and may find the violence vulgar and unwatchable. Also emo’s don’t tend to continue the lifestyle in adulthood. It is known to be just a phase the teenager goes through as a result of emotional instability and self issues.

For our teaser trailer we intend to first film an extreme long shot of a man silhouette to showing his back walking through a corridor. This would be done by filming the man in front of the lighting as we would try to avoid the lighting being shown on camera. We have chosen to show his silhouette to keep it mysterious and avoid a glimpse of his face. However glimpse of his eyes, mouth, teeth and hands would be shown. His hands would be shown when he is holding the keys and is about to open the door. When the door is opened cries would be heard at first before getting to a shot of him opening up a drawer where different shots of different types of knifes would be shown. These knives would only be props as to keeping to the health and safety rules. Then there would be shots of him taking out the longest knife, the girls screaming, the man holding the knife up and then holding a body part which would also be a prop. All we intend to do is possible as fake blood, prop knives and fake body parts would be purchased by members of the group. The lighting and video camera would be provided by our college media department. Actors would come from the people in our group. This is all worth doing as to get the best out of our teaser trailer and to also leave a bit of suspense and mystery with the audience.
